This is to 'celebrate' the fact The Simpsons is now in widescreen and HD in the US, I doubt the extended couch gag will be a permanent fixture.

It's got to be a one off hasn't it? I can't see two minutes of titles being used on every episode.

Yep, should have just gone straight to the HDTV falling off the wall when they walk into the house. They could have even played off some gag that they had to sell the couch to afford the HDTV.

Second one. They did a new one after the movie for season 19. The town was being cleaned up with references to the film. Who went through the bit between Maggie driving and the house to see who was on the hill?

Yea, I think they were fantastic until series 17, 18 died a horrendous death. 19, they still hadn't recovered from the writers' strike, and 20? Bah. I'm usually loyal to shows but I don't even look forward to the new ones any more.
