Drop Johnny69 a message, I hear he's handy with a MIG welder.

Leon has one, but he's not particularly experienced yet

Vix - where's the welding course? Is it evening classes?

The guy I use (and my Dad) is called Pat Regan. 07958 555285 He's not too badly priced and does a very decent job. Sort of half-way between "get it through the MOT" standard and restoration.

Who did you take it to for the MOT?

Trinity down Springfield Road, another one I was recommended. Couldn't remember where you said. The guys were honest and showed me on the ramp where it had gone through.

As Phil hinted I am rather worried about how much of that front end is gone. Hopefully not enough that will mean junking the car IIRC it was around there to the front floor pan that meant you had to junk your old one? It is in a common place on them though as he said. Last MOT it flew through and this one bar that one spot it would have flown through as well. I *really* could do without trying to find another MR2 and installing KYB's, exhaust, filter etc at the moment.

I'll give your guy a ring tomorrow and see what he says. I'm taking it to another chap down Broomfield Road (near the hospital) who is meant to be reasonable and has done a mk1 in that place before.

------------
It's not a bad idea to look at a welding course. At some point you are going to need it. Also get a MIG and do some work on the side

Pat is on the way to broomfield too (although he comes to you, great for a car that's off the road!). Trinity isn't bad, it's waltham service station I use. Also on the way to broomfield - well slightly past it. Are all the decent people clustered round the local A&E?

Only trouble is I live about zillion miles away from you so it would take eons & postage etc.
Shame really as one of my Superior skillz is panel forming/making, The amount of hours I have spent cutting & bending & hammering weld panels is embarrasing, I just Love panel forming with a Hammer
Thanks for the offer, alas although I can drive it to a repair centre, I don't think they'd let me get away with driving to the midlands (Well, knowing my luck). When I find another bit that needs doing, I shall keep you in mind.

Yeah he's doing one night a week for about a year at Great Yarmouth College.

Funny, he's going back to school and I've just become a teacher!

Not an uncommon place, just need to find out how much of the rest of the front end is rotten under all that underseal.
