Umm.. Ring of Fire?
Tuesday night it was "Country Night" on American Idol. Seems unnecessarily cruel to me forcing people to sing country. No one should have to do that.
Seriously.. *hopes country-lovin' Lana doesn't see these comments or he's in for a world of hurt* There were a few good performances, and a few dire ones, and a surprisingly good one for someone suffering flu. Then there was Adam Lambert's take on a take of "Ring Of Fire" I'm not sure the original source for this, but .. well.. yeah. In some regards it reminds me of the pretentiousness of the latter day prog rock stuff, and in other ways it seems inspired. Maybe just a little too much of the pretentiousness. I don't think most of the audience would probably have known what just hit them.

I also skipped forward to a bit in the song and it sounded like someone had his balls in a vice, horrible, horrible, horrible

Haha! It's a bit like a Muse cover! But yes, seems very pretentious in a Jim Morrison kind of way.

Very pretentious but hey- He's got some singing talent; even if it is shown through the butchering of JC's song. Like Mr.Cheese said, rather Matt Bellamy-esque.
I do like cover's to be very different though, even if I'm not a fan of the song- hats off for trying something different i.e. Scissor Sisters-Comfotably Numb et al.

It's not bad. I like how it's incredibly different to the original.
Slightly OT but for anyone that watches American Idol religiously; Is the dude whos wife died still in? I watched the auditions for comedy value but really liked this guy. Also, the labourer, is he still there? Oh, and that really, really annoying girl who kept asking god for help? |

Not a bad performance at all from him. Song suited his voice to a tee.

I was left almost as speechless as one of the judges. Then I saw Simon Cowell, and expected him to rip it to shreds. Whatever you may think of Adam, Simon didn't disappoint.
