Xbox 360 E71
Seems my 360 doesn't like me anymore
It keeps crashing while trying to play RE5 and I get the error message E71

E71: possibly a dashboard update error, Check below in the "Console Reset Codes" for instructions. If that does not work there is no other solution and the console must be sent back to MS for repair.

Try the bit under 'Console reset codes' (assuming you haven't already). Edit - too slow, but I do have an excuse (Xbox n00b). |

Didn't work still crashes I'm not getting the error any more though. Even tried GTAIV, game loaded pressed forward on the analogue stick and it crashed

Sounds like dying hardware. My first one died of E74 after a forum member here killed my Xbox360. (They still owe me something!)
I think your Xbox360 will be going to the big BBQ in the sky. Contact MS if it's still in warranty. |

Not under warranty, was manufactured in November 2006 I think.

yeah I suppose it might be worth doing that at some point as since it's knackered worse I'll have to pay for it to be fixed.

Seems the general pattern is crashing -> RROD so I'll keep using it this week and hope for RROD
