Default Xbox's HDdvd in Vista?

afternoon,

so my xbox is dead, but my hd-dvd drive still requires useage. i plugged it all in and it installed just fine, installed PowerDVD 9 Ultra, and put in a Planet Earth Disk.

Every time i select the drive as a source Pdvd says 'file mode' aka - "no!"

VLC also won't play it, comes up with an error i've never seen before.

Does anybody know a way of playing HD-DVD in Vista using this drive?

You need Power DVD 7 or an early version of 8 - was removed from the later versions.

Try MediaPlayer Classic Home Cinema though

removed? lame. i didn't think tech took a step backwards, even in the case of failed tech.

MPC HC wont do it, that seems to want a dvd style directory tree on the disk.

i'll try and find an older version of Pdvd

ta.
