Phone Upgrade Time
It's that time again for me. As I'm on a friends and family contract I have no other options open to me other than a new phone, i.e. I can't get a reduced price or extras added.
I currently have a SE K850i which has survived 18 months now only needing to be sent away for repairs once when it broke terminally, which apparently is very good for that phone. Now I need to choose a new phone I'm a bit stuck, my main criteria is that it needs to be almost bomb-proof. As my current phone can show, I'm very clumsy, it has many war wounds to show for its adventures from great heights and along paths. My choices are somewhat limited by the semi-indestructible requirement. Options.... T-Mobile G1 (google phone) + Would be interesting. - I'm not entirely sure I would ever use one of these properly, I rarely use my phone as it is. Also I would be a little worried about how fragile it might be. Nokia 5800 + Lots of useful features, reliable brand - Just how strong are touch screens? I'm not interested in using it as a music player Sony Ericsson c905 + Slide keypad so lockable, good camera, sturdy - SE seems to be prone to faults that I only find out about after I get the phone, I'm not interested in using it as a music player Help. |

If you don't use your phone that much then I'd say go with the SE again.
Lozza would be best suited to answer any questions you might have with the Nokia 5800

Ive got the 5800, its great. Anything specific you'd like to know?
My friend got the Ericsson the same time as I got my 5800, and shes been having the odd technical issue, but I think shes happy with it on the whole. Last edited by Knipples; 01-06-2009 at 07:12. |

I've seen a couple of display 'fake' G1s with snapped screens, so assuming they're built the same robustness would be a concern on that one.

I've seen some real ones and they look quite fragile and a bit tacky IMO. don't know anything about the others I'm afraid as I'm an HTC fanboy.

I went for the 5800, mainly because I was put off at paying nearly £80 on top for the SE, I've got non-contractual insurance on it so no matter how many times I break it they give me a new one.

Yup, he did mean that. It was the others he didn't know about.

But surely if he was a fanboy he wouldn't knock their product
Back on topic a bit I'm still not decided what phone to get next, Suppose it will depend on what reviews the Touch Pro 2 get.
