Short Circuit being remade
First reaction is Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Why cant they bloody well leave things like this alone, why do they need to remake them, and are film makers so thick that they need to resurrect old films instead of thinking up new ones.
I know theyve done well with certain films, but surely iconic ones like this, are best left in the past. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/a...ew-writer.html |

Hollywood is in crisis
Hence the remakes *or reboots as they're now calling them - in other words, redo the entire series...* that are out or coming out soon. Well if they worked well then, they'll work now type of thing. So what do we get? *this is a brief list of abominations that should be killed now, or should have been killed off... just off the top of my head...* Alien Prequal Friday 13th *with Jason...when it was his mother in the first film....* Nightmare on Elm Street Top Gun Weird Science The Birds Psycho Halloween The Wicker Man *Remove the religeous hatred and cast a man who can't act... viola!* The Day the Earth Stood Still *Keanu .... ..... ..... Reeves...* Barbarella Casino Royale *yes..the new one... it should have been put into a bag with a brick and drowned at birth* Creature From The Black Lagoon The Dambusters *I'm uneasy putting this one in here - if they change the dogs name, then it deserves it, but now we know more about the missions it could be a worthwhile tribute to those who partook in it. Also, depends who the cast is* Easy Rider Escape from New York The Hitcher The Howling Mary Poppins *Who at disney decided to start cashing in more than they have done with the DVD releases?* The Omen Predator Red Sonja Robocop The Seven Samuari Six Million Dollar Man Spies Like Us St Trinians The Man who Fell to Earth Tron Get Smart *although - in it's defence - Anne Hathaways legs * Highlander Hellraiser Scanners The Dirty Dozen The Lavender Hill Mob Vanishing Point 20'000 Leagues Under the Sea Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Frankenstein *Surely Mel Brooks' version was all that was needed other than the original? * Apparently one of the reasons to remake some of these films is that the originals are in black and white. Exqueeze me? Thats a reason? So, Schindlers List next then? Clerks? I fully expect to see announced a remake of The Godfather, The Great Escape, Ben-Hur or Ghandi announced soon. Bastards.

Most of them are jigged around to the point that they're not really remakes it's just an exercise in branding and 'franchises' (I really hate that term in it's media context). At the end of the day a film with a name people have fond memories of will pull in more $ than the same film with a totally new name.

Flibster mentioned this in a thread a while back. Why do a remake when they could easily have done another sequel? I've no doubt Johnny Five is now going to be an armor-plated killing machine that goes haywire or something.
