Default Tassimo Thingamebob

I was at the Kids Football fundraising night on Friday and the first prize to be drawn was a Braun Tassimo Machine. So I looks franticly at the raffle tickets and low and behold I had won it, much to the chorus of boo's and shout's of fix from all the parents (all in a very good nature of course )

Now I know these machines strictly aren't a proper peculator but the coffee tastes so damn good. It works out slightly more expensive than per cup but it's cheaper than a standard starbucks and the cappucino is heavenly. The best thing is their zero wastage with the discs as well.

Well worth the £2.00 on the raffle.

I bought one of the original machines just after they were released and was very pleasantly surprised at how good the coffee was. I found the espresso a bit weak but the Kenco medium roast was really good! Not as nice as a cup of proper filter coffee but a very good substitute when I couldn't be arsed to whip out the grinder and so on.

The hot chocolate is pretty good too but the discs seemed to have a habit of leaving a lot of the flavor in the disc so I'd usually have to tear off the lid of the disc and pour the contents into the cup.

Unfortunately my machine died - it started making coffee that was barely luke warm so it went to the great coffee shop in the sky.

I've often wondered how the coffee from these things tasted. I like a cup of proper coffee now and then but the thought of all the preparation and subsequent cleaning etc puts me off buying a proper coffee machine so I've always stuck with a cafetiere. Is the coffee from this machine any better than decent cafetiere coffee?

One bonus would be the cappuccino option but I don't drink a lot of cappuccino these days, I prefer plain black coffee, so I don't really miss not having that option.

Not better but I'd say not far off the same.

Is this a similar thing to the pods that I use in my Philips Senseo doofer?

Aye, a variation on a theme.
