Trailers?
Hey guys does anyone know any cheap or names of trailers that can hold the charger 5.2mx1.96m and say min 2 tons although 2.5tons would be better.
What license do I need and what car would you need to pull it? Planning on moving house and going to see if I can get something with at least a drive and maybe a garage.

Something that size won't be cheap.
Place I've used before PRG Trailers, doesn't even have one that size as standard - in fact, they don't even produce one long enough. But to give you an idea... 16' by 6'4" with a load capacity of 1980kg - Yours for £2200 May be worth making friends with someone with a low loader.

Would soemthing like this be suitable?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Trailer-Fl...d=p3286.c0.m14 Or even better this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-trailer-tr...d=p3286.c0.m14 and there's a load at 14foot, are you allowed over hang? Main thing is, can you tow it with any car(for example my carisma) if you have a C+E license. Anyone got any rough idea how much the +E training and test is. Is it hard? Or does the towing car have to be x% of the tow weight.

2002 so I would need the test.
How about pre 1997. Could I get my dad to tow? passed 40odd years ago.

And remember that whatever the tow vehicle is it has to be able to handle a panic stop with the towed weight pushing on it. My general rule of thumb is the towing vehicle is 1.5 times the weight of the entire towed load (trailer +load).
Your best bet would be a tow dolly that you park the front tyres on it and strap the car to it, drop the Charger into neutral and then have a truck tow the dolly. Cheapest and easiest solution. I have no idea the proximity to each other, but Justsomebloke would have no trouble with his Landy with your Charger on a dolly behind him. I really wouldn't recommend anything smaller than a Landy Discovery (not Disco II) towing that car. And even at that point stay away from the dual carriageways. Nothing over 50mph.

You can hire a bloke in a lorry to transport it for you. Leon used a guy from Birmingham who he found via Ebay for the 205 to fetch it from Wales when we bought our house.
It's going to be a lot less hassle and probably less expensive than doing your test, hiring something and finding a suitable towing vehicle. I'm sure Leon paid less than £100 for it. The guy has converted it to gas, so he's not expensive. Will try and get his name

For the Charger and trailer your going to need a BIG car!!
As per Lostkat I would look for someone who could do it for you, there are a few on the NSRA and Rodsnsods forum who most people use....though I used someone from E-Bay to bring a W202 Merc up from the south coast a couple of years back (or actually....did I use Leons bloke...cant remember!!) |
