El Cheapo Project Ideas...
With the drag car up for sale, along with all the associated things that go with it, I got to thinking I will have nothing, nish, nada to work on (apart from the daily!!)
So....im looking for something that is a) cheap b) parts are easily swapable c) a sleeper d) rwd (if possible) e) something that 'may' have any easy turbo transplant available f) doesnt need loads of fab work for engine swaps Ideally transplants will be same manufacturer, not really worried about looks (ugly may be a bonus!), but it has to be CHEAP Im thinking roundy roundy fun, with a bit of RWYB and maybe err drifting...need to have some cheap cheap fun after the last few years of very big bills So...any ideas....did I say it had to be cheap? |

Good choice...but are they getting rare / chuffing expensive (thats if you can find one that hasnt had the rust monster eat it).
This is going to be total bangernomincs at play...im going to use my years of knowledge and experience to totally ruin a car I have a weird choice of Volvo running around in my head at the minute |

Well the T5 was a monster and I'm sure it could be fettled or maybe that engine added to a smaller shell?

Saab 900 (not RWD though).
BMW 2002. Toyota Hilux? (no, I'm not kidding)

Hmm I know the drift boys use 200sx's. For not a lot of money they can be taken to around 260-270. Then strip them out and jobs a goodun

I still want to do the Mk1 Transit with a 4l V10 Judd engine in it. Problems with workspace, time and sheer effort involved in doing it.
I do sort of have one project underway, well.. not me exactly, it's something from a few years ago that I helped someone design for his Automotive engineering degree course.

BMW 2002 - rare as rocking horse poo...and expensive Hilux....hmmmm...... reminds me of wanting to drop a range rover in the weeds with a turbo RV8 E36? By fettle do you mean attack with an angle grinder to get rid of everything it doesnt really need Quote:
Did think of a corsa/nova with a turbo lump lobbed in last night....but that breaks my rwd rule!! Im trying to think of a car that was at a RWYB when I last took my 16v Astra - read ooh 13 years or so back.....it was Jap (I think) FUGLY....but was hot lapping and running 13's to look at it, you would think what a POS then oooooffffff and off it went |

I would suggest a mk1.5 conversion on an MR2 but that would be far too predictable of me so I won't |
