Some unsavoury types dealing out the back of my flat
Had a lovely time at my little sister's wedding this weekend only to get a text this morning to say that all four bikes (two mine, two my mate's) that we keep out the back of our flat had been nicked. This obviously pissed me off but I think it was mostly due to the fact I would no longer be able to cycle to work which I love for various reasons (fitness, no tube, cheap etc).
Now I'd cheered up a little bit by the time I got home and had a word with one of the neighbours. She told me that she'd seen some people with a pit-bull clearly dealing drugs at the back of our flats (little cul-de-sac that side, main road on my side) and that someone else had had their iPod stolen from their kitchen this afternoon! Now I know I shouldn't jump to conclusions but I'm thinking this might not be a coincidence? I'm due to speak to the cycle team from the Met tomorrow and I think I'll be mentioning what else happened. I'm also planning to send everyone else in my flat block a note asking for information and urging them to contact the police if they've seen anything. I'm not sure I'll sleep much tonight, I'm not scared but this has really changed my perception of the area I live in. Its not the best part of London but its quite quiet and you never see any trouble. Anyone ever had to deal with something like this? I know I should leave it to the police but I thought letting everyone else know was wise. |

It'd be worth you, and your neighbour who had the ipod stolen, talking to your Safer Neighbourhood Team, as well as seeing if your neighbour who saw the group has a decent description of them.
It might also be worth talking to your local Anti-Social Behaviour Team (not sure who this is as I can't remember exactly where you live!), although it's likely the SNT may do this anyway. If the group is known then even a vague description will probably help the local ASB partners to identify them. It probably won't get your stuffs back, but it could well dissuade the group from coming into your area, or it may well be the final strike before some kind of punitive measure is taken against them. Good luck

Thanks, I'll give them a call once I get my crime number.
