Budget(ish) pc help
Challenge time.
Since I'm now getting annoyed at the lack of gaming pc at home since moving out I've decided I might build one. Only problem is I have no idea what to get. Ideally the cheaper the better but without scrimping on performance. Since I have no spare parts I could use I would need the m/b, ram, cpu, hdd, case, monitor, OS and k/b & mouse. Think that's everything. Will be going for Windows 7. I would like it to be able to run Oblivion with all the texture mods if that's any indication as that's the the most graphically intensive game I own. Thanks. |

Any idea of a rough budget? I'm guessing you want a graphics card too even though you didn't mention it.
Best value at the moment I think would be a Core i5-750, P55 board of some sort, 4GB DDR3, 640GB-1TB WD Caviar Blue/Black, Coolermaster CM690 case (dropped to about £45 i think, since I paid £65 and it's a nice case). GTX260-216 can be had pretty cheap now, I paid £110 a month or 2 back but I think they may have gone back up a bit since. That'll set you back around £600-£650 for the base unit i'd have thought.

+ Windows 7 + Monitor + KB/Mouse If you want more budget than that, you'll be moving to Core 2 which isn't hugely slower, along with P45 and DDR2 RAM. Cheap case like CM Elite 335, Maybe a cheaper graphics card like a 4770/4850, PSU I wouldn't skimp on but something like an OCZ 500W will knock £20 off.
