Default TV continuity - Awful!

Has anyone else noticed or is it just me?

TV continuity is awful! I don't watch a lot of TV but I'm spotting continuity errors on almost every programme I see. I'm not looking to spot them but I just notice them, it's so obvious.

Girls sitting at table with coffee cups, man approaches, picks up one cup and starts filling it, next shot the cup is on the table, switch camera, he's still filling it, next shot it's back on the table, repeat. (Involved parties, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore and Luke)

Girl been gagged and put in the boot of a car, in one shot the gag is completely in her mouth, in another angle it's half out. Repeat backwards and forwards over and over again. (Involved party, Jo)

Man standing, hunched slightly forward and shaking, next angle is from behind him and he's standing upright and not shaking. (Involved party, Spike)

That's the ones I can remember in the last couple of days. I don't look for them but they just jump out of the screen and punch me in the nose.

I'm sure TV never used to be like this.

Now I know this sounds like I actually do watch a lot of TV even though I said that I don't, but I'm unwell and at home so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

It did - you just weren't paying attention that day.

Lot more channels, lot more programmes, less time to produce & big money involved. Just less care taken I think.

You can always tell when cups arent filled with drink (especially if its supposed to be a hot drink) because they either drink them far too much (for a hot drink) or they angle the camera so you cant see anything in there.

Another gripe of mine is people in soaps who have children, yet the children (especially when they're young) just seem to disappear. Max and his wife in Eastenders is a perfect example. Sometimes you dont see him for days, yet there's never any mention of "oh he's at nursery" or "such and such has got him"

I find it more amazing that Captain Kirk has spent 5 years on a star ship without even considering going to the toilet.

I refuse to speculate on the size of the captain's log!

And besides, all the toilets are out of order since one of them got blocked and Scotty tried to clear it by reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. You wouldn't believe the mess that caused! They had to open the shuttle bay doors and drain Cargo Deck C into space.
Next time, ffs just call a plumber Scotty!

Nah, it wasn't Scotty who did that, it would have been the Dandy!

Yeah but if they included all life's trivialities such as picking the kids up from school, going to the toilet, doing the ironing, washing the car, it wouldn't be very interesting. Not that soaps are interesting to me anyway.

It annoys me when I spot them, for example I was watching the BSG mini series the other day and just before they get to Ragnar the ship retracts the landing pods then when the animation is shown for the jump the pods are still extended :/ now to me that is just sloppy!
