Default Spec me a laptop :)

I'm having trouble finding a new laptop and need some help..

I've got a lovely HP at the mo and love it... what I detest are Sony VIAOs and the like which are over bloated, etc.

Just want a fast, lightish laptop with a fairly decent widescreen (1280x800 upwards)

Any ideas?

Anything by Acer. I've had one for a couple of years now and it's been the most stable laptop I've ever used, not a single crash despite being used for about 8 hours a day 5 days a week for about a year solid. I can't recommend them enough.

Bang for buck you can't beat Acer. Everytime I get involved with a friends/relations new computer purchase we end up arriving at Acer.

Do you want a gaming laptop or just an everyday use one?

I love my Acer.. Bought it from Tesco Home (direct) at a snip of the price PC world were selling it for plus loads of ClubCard Points!

Acer or Dell. Check places like Tesco, the Dell Factory Outlet and refurbished hardware resellers - e.g. EuroPC - for bargains. Don't forget Quidco/TopCashBack.

I don't know why people bash Acer laptops, had mine for years and it's never missed a beat. The only annoying thing I can't strip the laptop screen apart as much I need to to get rid of a dead bug, apart form that, perfect.

Mrs DLs has been the biggest heap of **** I have ever encountered. After two years of light in home use the keyboard is ****ed, it over heats, it often doesn't charge, the DVD drive is broken and the screen in flakey. To add insult in injury their customer support staff are barely understandable and the RMA procedure horribly convoluted.

I'm not the only person I know to have had this kind of experience so I'd say they are a bit hit and miss.

I agree thats pretty much how i've experienced acers in the past, although maybe the newer stuff is better? I have generally avoided and dissuaded people from buying them for a good while...
