Default Beat 'em ups

Just wondering if there is any good beat 'em ups that anyone would recommend for the 360? I am getting street fighter 4, but are there any others to look out for?

I'm also a soul calibre fan but was disappointed with #4 for the xbox - it just wasn't as addictive nor satisfying as Soul Calibre 2 on the Gamecube; although it did come with a specialist Yoda character

Dead or Alive 4 is fantastic, but it really isn't easy, if you have time to learn it then there isn't anything that's much better in that style or beat-em up bar perhaps Virtua Fighter 5 which is, in my opinion, a masterpiece. Those are both your more standard 3D beat-em ups, the kind you'd find in arcades etc...

If you want to stretch your horizons outside of the standard beat-em up idiom then, for me, there is no better fighting game than UFC Undisputed 2009, it's got a fantastic stand up game, fantastic grappling game and its online system is, well... fantastic.

Well I have a bid in on SC2 for a couple of quid I'll have a hunt for #4, just scouring ebay for an auction that finishes at say 7am on a Monday morning (like one of my current ones)

edit:- Didn't DOA4 come to the PC? I seem to remember that it did but remember thinking at the time it was best on consoles.

I wouldn't know, I really don't follow a beat-em ups on PC's, they just are never the same, it's one genre that hasn't really crossed the gap successfully, though SFIV seems to have come closest.

It is a good game, perhaps it's aged a little now, but it's still a great technical fighter. You should be able to get both DOA4 and VF5 cheap (and both are worth it) and UFC Undisputed is in the Classics range now, so that's definitely less than £20 new.

Ta I'll definitely keep an eye out for them, I tend to get them off ebay for between £5-10.

Virtua Fighter 5 - £8.95 at Zavvi
Dead or Alive 4 - £5.95 at Zavvi
UFC Undisputed 2009 - £15.95 at Zavvi

All are free delivery, all cheapest at Zavvi (bar UFC which is 30p cheaper or so at The HUT) and they are very good.

Just had a blast on SF4, I can now understand what the hype was about around this. Nice quick, slick moves and looks fantastic on the projector. Only problem is learning all the combo's again and then opening a whole can of whoop ass Presently I suck..... but I'll kick your ass on Mortal Kombat on the Megadrive

You do need the arcade stick or a gamepad for SF4 though. I can see that you could survive without but the xbox pad isn't really setup right (for me anyway).

I am keeping an eye out for Soul Calibur on the cheap as well as VF.

I've been having fun with SF4 on the PC. Great to see such a solid game getting a nice polishing and modernising. All my old tactics seem to fail, I'm actually rocking Zangiev for once and I used to hate him (was always way better at Chun Li and Ken than him)

Do need to buy a gamepad though, doing it on the keyboard just isn't the same.
