iPhone question
I'm asking on behalf of a friend, and in here because there are more than a few people who are extremely familiar with the iPhone.
Is there an app that allows bluetooth file transfer between regular phones and an iPhone? My friend is disappointed that he can't find a way to send+receive pics/ringtones/message alert tones etc. Ive done some googling around and I can't find a reference to an app that can do this, so I was wondering if any of you lot know of such a thing? |

Bluetooth FileShare exists, as does Bluetooth Photo Share. Whether they do what you want is another problem.
Someone in the Jailbreak community came up with iBluetooth but it sounds like they never finished it. Ringtones are 'locked in' to iTunes (you can make your own but you still have to go through iTunes to get them on the phone). Last edited by Mark; 13-02-2010 at 19:48. |

Not that I know of. You'll probably have to wait til OS 4.0.

I found references to iBluetooth that were dated early 2009, and that the call to finish it went unanswered. So in other words, as far as you're aware, it's impossible to use BT to exchange pics/tones/videos between an iPhone and conventional phone.....and even more definite if the iPhone hasn't been jailbroken? |

Did you look for the apps mentioned above? (source: iTunes App Store)

FWIW, after googling about this it looks like it isn't possible.....but I thought that asking some experienced users/owners would be a little more direct. In your opinion, what is the best/most active forum for all things iPhone? Is it Apples own, or are there better alternatives? Obviously an alternative could be more informative, as I'm assuming all talk of Jailbreaking is forbidden on Apples site. |

You would assume correctly about Apple. I just searched for Bluetooth in the App Store and the two apps I named were the first two results. I haven't used either (because I have no need to do so). I've done very little research on them so treat both apps with caution.

Looks like both those apps only work as iphone to iphone or ipod touch transfers.
So unless friend's friends have iphones then it'll not work...
