The price of security.

I just had a tot up on how much I've spent on security measures in the last couple of years and I'm disgusted at how much I've spent. Comes to just under Â£400 of my own money just to stop scum stealing my belongings. I guess the flipside is I've had nothing stolen, despite a couple of attempts.

Motorbike lock and chain for scooter - Â£65

Motorbike disc lock for scooter - Â£15

2x hasps for garage door - Â£25 each

2x padlocks for garage door - Â£30 each

Chunky braid and lock for freecycle bike #1 - Â£35

Almax Immobiliser 3 chain and lock to secure car - Â£150

Kryptonite D lock for freecycle bike #2 - Â£20

Total: Â£395

Should I be disgusted or should I be proud that I still own all my belongings?

What's the cost of insurance to just get it replaced each time

Insurance doesn't cover the price of the ball-ache that replacing stuff entails.

Â£150 for the moped insurance and I didn't get a pay out when the original one was stolen, so add Â£2000 to that. That's where I stopped trusting insurance and took my own steps. Don't know how much bicycle insurance is but I doubt I'd ever get a payout on a Freecycle bike despite them both being good bikes and collectable, car is insured but it's irreplaceable if it gets stolen, all my stuff in the garage I wouldn't be able to put a price on and again, a lot of it is rare and irreplaceable.

More important to me is not being able to replace it like for like. I'm very attached to a lot of my stuff
