Default Emails - Spam & Stupidity

I have sales people call me all the time... I am also on the info@ email address for the company so I get all sorts of exciting stuff

Anyway I thought I would see if this events company could help me look for Chelsea Flower Show tickets (they are like gold dust!!! Its more popular than any concert I have been to!?)

So face value the tickets are £51 day and £21 Fri eve - I called CFS direct and found this out - also found out they are sold out so I thought I will try them.

Hi
Further to our conversation earlier ticket prices for the Friday of Chelsea Flower Show are £175 + VAT per person.
Please let me know if these are of interest to you.
Kind Regards,
Sophie

Hi Sophie
Thanks for the quote – is this for all day tickets? We are only looking for Friday evening x3.
Thanks

Hi
Yes this is for all day, unfortunately on the Friday you can only by all day tickets from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. as it doesn’t go on till late.
Kind Regards,
Sophie

Hi Sophie,
I spoke to the Chelsea Flower Show yesterday directly and they said that Friday pm was another ticket option as well as the whole day – which is why I was asking.
Don’t worry I will find some elsewhere.
Thanks for your help.
Kind regards,
BBx

Hi
I have just spoken directly to Chelsea Flower Show so sorry for the confusion earlier. I don’t deal with Chelsea Flower Show I get the prices off a colleague who deals with it and we got our wires crossed.
We have tickets for £160 + VAT per person for the Friday 17:30. Let me know if these are of interest.
Kind Regards,
Sophie

Just sent this:
Hi Sophie
Thanks for the quote, but perhaps you could explain to me why you are offering the tickets for £160 + VAT per person when the face value is £21?
Even at a late booking rate with other vendors, tickets are coming up at £60 per person max?
Just curious.
Kind regards,
BB x

I just bought 3 tickets from Get Me In for £180... fingers crossed they arrive! I don't trust ticket agencies... :/ esp as you are buying from third parties but other option was Ebay.

My question is... why the hell is she offering me them for £160/each when face value is £21??? She doesn't mention any special corporate arrangements?!

I've recently had a similar issue with lying box offices and ticket resellers. They're out to make a buck - they clearly buy them in blocks, make them, impossible to obtain, as such people will pay big bucks for them, knowing full well corporations are likely to stump up the cash over individuals so don't have to be that competitive.

They probably don't even have tickets.

It's easy money really, wait for an enquiry from someone who doesn't know where to look for tickets. Do 5 minutes internet research to find out they can get a ticket for £60, bung on some markup and give back a quote. If you say yes then they'll buy the ticket and pass it on to you, if not they've not lost anything.

Yeah I know - that is obvious that they are marking this up... she's just sent this:

Hi
I just spoke to my colleague who deals with this who has been out of the office and he told me we are selling in pairs for this event so £160 + VAT for 2 tickets.
Again sorry - Chelsea Flower Show is not my event!!!
Kind Regards,
Sophie

Reeks of BS. Its not a way of getting more business from us though - does she really think that us (as a sales company?! - we do this ourselves!!!) we would be so naive to think that that is a good deal???

It's a 380% markup! Nice business to be in clearly!

What puts me off is the "it's not my event - nothing to do with me thing", doesn't inspire much confidence does it?

Tell her you'll take 12 and to leave the tickets in a briefcase under a park bench in 1 hour.
