I Have Gas
But I don't know if the BBQ I just bought is compatible. I'm pretty sure it is, having checked to make sure I bought the right type to go with the gas I have (Calor propane, orange bottle) but the connectors are different so I'm just being extra-safe by asking here. The manual states 'propane LPG bottled gas'.
I know some berate gas over coal etc. but I'm into convenience and hosting, not perfect BBQ food so was hoping to avoid that whole argument! OK, so I have my old bottle and regulator from the last BBQ I had: It is 37mbar / 1.5kg/h. The new BBQ comes with a different regulator: Rated exactly the same. However it has a different connector, of which I'm hoping the only difference is that it's quick(er) release: Would I be right in saying that all I need to do is remove the quick release regulator from the hose and attach the hose to the old regulator? It has one of those metal tighteners on it to keep a good seal so I should just need to loosen it and pop the regulator off. I know to test the connection with a washing-up liquid solution when done. Anything I've missed? Apart from coals?!

Yes, it should be fine. The ribs on the pipe stop it sliding off once you've tightened the jubilee clip
Oh, and WOOOOOT BRING ON THE BBQ SEASON!!!!!

Thanks J69! Was most likely worrying for nothing but I'm a bit of a dunce with these things.
The BBQ is the Manhattan 2 for those interested. Had a 15% off voucher at Homebase so decided it was about time the new house got something for cooking on the patio. Was quite tempted by the oil drum one they had, but as I already had the mostly full gas cylinder I thought I might as well stick with it, even if it only lasts me 2-3 years.
