OK I'm not going to sit here and try and tell you that this is Kevin Smith's greatest work, it clearly isn't Dogma is, yes it is, no I can assure you IT IS; but this is a great throw away movie shmultzy film which really tugs at the heart strings. The plot has been done better in this http://imdb.com/title/tt0113448/ but the dialogue in Jersey Girl is great and Smith adds an edge that appeals to a hipper audience.
I've been in a KS zone recently, I'm reading his book, I've re-watched Clerks and seen Clerks II and sat down and watch An Evening with Kevin Smith today all great all in their own way, I recommend them all even Mallrats MB |

Me too!
Jersey Girl was ok but obviously not up there with his earlier work Wasn't it either co-written or co-directed with Affleck iirc? Not seen Clerks II yet (gggrrrr) but I've seen the rest and LOVED them!

As to not up there with his earlier work I think that's a bit like saying Hotel Chocolat chocolate is better than Dairy Milk, they are both good but made to appeal to very different tastes Jersey girl is a good film in its own right, put it up there with other romantic comedies and its at the top of its game just like Clerks is a top stoner hip flick. The nice thing for me is that Smith is around my age (he's 2 years older) so I can see what he's trying to say and how his life effects his movie and its nice to see the message he's trying to get across change as he matures. Clerks II is good you should see it, its a cash in, I think Smith himself would admit to that but the money it makes will fund new stuff; he's currently working on an untitled horror project which sounds intriguing MB |

I likd Mallrats!
KS is oneof the best directors/writers I've seen for a long time. He does comedy so well and if it hadn't been for those suits in Hollywood then AvP would have been AWESOME!!!

Oooh...
You chaps may like this then. - http://www.silentbobspeaks.com/ Yup. It's another Kev Q&A in London. Almost sold out though. Got my tickets for the 3rd reserved. For me Mallrats is a film I can watch time and time again - especially the extended cut, I've got to be in the right mood for Clerks. Clerks II was very funny though. It's interspecies erotica F***o! Jersey Girl is imho the weakest of his films. But it's still good in comparison with all other the other romantic claptrap out there. Any Kev fan should have: An Evening with and An Evenign with: Evening Harder. Both hilarious! With the SModcast's he's now doing with Scott Mosier *his producer* he's doing what a lot of filmmakers don't do - he listens and talks to the fans. On the webboard he will respond to questions given enough time. Simon/~Flibster *Kevin Smith geek*

Well... It appears that he may have a guest with him from the current rumours.
So that'll be Jay then. If anyone wants to come up with a question, I'm willing to ask it. Simon/~Flibster
