A new case..
Decided to buy a new case as the midi towers i had was just to small.. and certainly not big enough for an 8800GTX..
Went for the Thermaltake Kandalf.. VA9000SWA and it arrived last week.. Can you "adam and eve" that parcel force just left it round the side gate Was not happy about that. Oh well.. Have to say i'm very impressed.. The case is huge.. about 560 mm deep.. I keep knocking my knees on it. You see the size of that card... I still had some trouble getting it in. I had to remove the fancy "non-tool PCI clips" to get it in. . The only negative side is the cooling. The system temps are 10oc up on the midi case I had.. Since there is more empty space inside, the airflow from the front intake fan has further to go before it hits the chipset. So I've ordered a couple of additional 120mm fan including Kythe Karma bay. Hopefully they should arrive today I had a bit of a tidy up of the cables and It's job well done I think.

Looks good but it seems to me that you have your CPU fan and your case fan working Against each other. Correct me if i am wrong but it looks to me as if you have your CPU cooler sucking air towards the front of the case and your case fan sucking air in the opposite direction out the back. Or is the CPU fan blowing air through your cooler towards the rear ?
I would have both fans drawing air towards the rear and working together. Hopefully i am wrong and you can ignore me. |

It looks like that to me too Pikey, if my brain is interpreting the fan blades right on the CPU.

I'll check that out tonight.. The orientation looks correct. The air is being pulled to the back then out through case fan.. There's only one way the CPU fan will fit on to the HSF....

That just confirms what i thought originally Huddy, it's on the wrong way round. You need to turn the cooler round then the rear case fan will add to the overall pull of air through the cooler and exhaust it out the back which would be perfect. As it is it's fighting the rear case fan.
Turn the Cooler round and you will make up the 10c you have lost. I have that cooler myself and run two 80's in the front of my case with the 64 doing it's thing and a 120 exhausting it all out the back. Perfect air cooling. |

If the case fan is exhaust, all is good. If not, it needs reversing.

The rear fan is an Exhaust fan.. I'm drawing cool air from the front that extracting from the back..
The diagram on the cooler.. (below) clearly shows that the direction of airflow from the CPU cooler is heading towards the case fan.. which is extracting air out of the fan.
