Default Google maps

Goto google maps.com and click on the street view. This little thing is awesome. You get high res images of SF that you can browse around and zoom in/out. It certainly brought back memories where I went and 'look I ate there' and pointing out landmarks to my parents and places to go.

I'm very very impressed with this, it looks as if they are starting to expand it as well. If this comes over here it will be cracking, I know they are doing it over in Europe. Instead of saying, oh its on the corner of geary and jones, you can pass a link showing them exactly where it is.

That would be invaluable in London with all its little mazes. Check it out

We ate here in Pinecrest and the other place across the road

(Click the yellow dude)
If you head east on Geary you'll get to union square with macy's and the cheesecake factory. There is also a cable car in shot as well.

I'll have a hunt but we should be able to find the steak house that was awesome as well

Chris Ruth's steakhouse, you have to turn left a bit - but it's there!

Oh man that steak *drools*

I still haven't beaten it yet and I've had a number of steaks back here in the UK since then.

If you go to SF, you must go there.... no excuses (unless you are veggie)

No offence but the UK don't really know how to do steaks properly unless you go to a decent restaurant but then you're paying £20 or so for a steak...

Go to Frogland if you want a cheap and tasty steak Though I have to admit the meat quality in Cali is very high and certainly those steaks were done perfectly.

But yes, defo go!! Blue steaks FTW.

Right this is off topic enough!

If you like that, try Google Earth and NASA World Wind. Both require installation but it's worth it if you like looking at satellite imagery. Oh, and both cover a large percentage of the UK and Europe too (though probably not in 3D).

They don't do 3D so it's not the same - google earth's pretty good, but this is even better!

I think they can do 3D - Google Earth uses a lot of the same data.

Pretty sure I've seen 3D imagery of London on Windows Live! Local as well.

MS demo'd that at CES actually. Some guy was floating around New York using a wireless 360 controller rather than a mouse to navigate. Was quite cool.
