Default RSS - Which PC client?

It's got to the stage where I've decided to nail some RSS bits and pieces into a client to get everything together. It's got to be better than having *counts* 19 Firefox tabs open.

What's good, what works well, what should I avoid?

Google Reader? It's what I use now. Works well on the mobile as well as PC.

If you want software there was an excellent peice of software that literally did everything and more you'd ever need, but for now iu've lost it
It was something like newsgator (but not that) and feeddeamon (but not that either) had an orange cog like logo i think, but i can't for the life of me remember just yet.

If you want online stuff google reader is probably the way to go, but i dont think google reader is as good as whatever i used to use... (I didn't have enough feeds to justify it when i did a reinstall though i would like it back now though!)

I was happily using a standalone application before I got my new phone, then I wanted something to read feeds on the move. With GR my feeds are in one place and the mobile interface is light and fast.

If I didnt have the phone I wouldn't be so bothered about an online solution.

I'm using www.bloglines.com for my feeds. Their new beta is a lot more like GR. I can't really get used to GR.
