Not another singer with a "common" accent... It got boring fast with the Arctic Monkeys.. now we're just ending up with lots of them.

Great song though

Common accent? (and yet people get on their high horses about MY "snobby" comments?!) Maybe that's just the way she talks? Doesn't really sound common to me, sounds like a typical London accent. Anyway, I quite like it, it's cute and quite sexy.

I was struggling to find a way to describe it.. common was about the only way I could think of describing the style, rather than her specific accent.
East London accent really irritates the hell out of me, especially when I get subjected to it at 100db from a girl on the bus jabbering @900wpm into her mobile phone.

I'm sure its more down to my singing background that I find it irritating hearing people sing like that, as its been so drummed into me not to sing with an accent *shrug*

I was at a party in Derby & some Doris says to me, "Where you from then" when i told her Hinckley she said No way you're a Londoner. I said kin ell love have i still got an accent i thought i sounded like David Niven She must have liked it though as i had to talk dirty to her during the activities

I found it kind of London meets Jamaica, but not that heavily accented.

Have another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZA2Ikrn2gs

Hehe - yeah some accents can get quite grating. I must say though I've always been a sucker for a girl with some sort of quirky accent! I must be honest I really love accents in singers, it gives them a bit of character and individuality and something a bit more special, unlike most singers that sing in a generic "american-esque" sort of accent.

Though as you say it's probably something to do with your "style" or the way you were taught and the way that you're used to.

I'm going to go with Garp on this one. Its another Streets style singer. In fact there is another woman in the charts at the moment who sounds like the female equivalent of the guy from the streets. Its the one accent that really grates with me, interesting song, but I literally couldn't listen to it with that voice.

I do agree on the point about accents though. I mean I listen to matchbox 20 and he has a slack jaw american accent

Malc, Cockney is fine, what the teenage girls seem to use around East London has none of the decent qualities of Cockney. Think Vicky Pollard but a hundred times worse and you're beginning to get into the right area.
