Me!
I think its nice.
H and I dont do the big commercial thing, but we both tend to make cards for each other. Some years we get each other a nice little gift, some years we dont.
We do TRY and have a nice meal (kids dependant!), but some years we dont.

Valentines day is not always about giving gifts etc. but it IS always about showing your affection for someone. I phone H every day at work (and have done since before we got married) to chat and tell her I love her.

Any way... Valentines day is really supposed to be sending someone something from an unknown or a far admirer

Love it!

Especially this year as it's on a Thursday night, going out straight after work, figure any girls out in bars/clubs are prime targets!

We don't go out on the actual day we tend to go out around it so we don't pay inflated prices.

I'm in the middle, as I believe that you shouldn't wait to Valentines to promopt you to do something special. I say make a habit of it.

You should show your love and apreciation for someone all year round, not just Valentines. I make sure I buy my Mrs flowers once every month at least, A bottle of wine on a Friday or a card or something occasionally. We also make a point of dressing up and having a romantic dinner for two at least once a month, which is normally when I cook.

As said, I'm not against it because any gesture, no matter how large or small has to be positive, providing that people get something from it and not just sex. Although that's alway a bonner.. I meant bonus! Something like, "Let's do this again soon"?

Shame about the commercialism but that's just the day and age we live in.

Im normally a lover of Valentines Day, there shouldnt be a special one day to show someone your love but it is nice to do something you wouldnt normally make time for (cook a favourite meal etc) and getting a gift can be nice but at the same time isnt important

Neils annoyed because its our first valentines and he found out he wont get paid untill the end of feb from his new job so he got upset that he wouldnt be able to make me feel special. I told him it doesnt matter in the slightest as he makes me feel special everyday! He then admitted he was going to get flowers sent to my work but I promptly (not too rudely) said that would be so so so embarrassing so maybe its best not he has money!

I don't like the pressure that commercialisation has associated with Valentine's day. I do enjoy the effort the people go to for one another and think it's nice to do something, but no different to anything I'd be doing anytime during the week.

I met the girlfriend on February the 14th so I can't really avoid making Valentines day into a big occaision.
Makes it easy to remember our 'anniversary' though.
