Default Access to Work

If you know anyone who works and is disabled, this government scheme might be worth a look. For many things over £300 that a disabled employee needs specially to do their job the Government will refund 80% of the cost (excluding the £300 'excess').

I just justified my employer getting me a second Dell 2707WFP (one for the office, one at home) on the grounds that with Dell discounts, VAT reclaim and an Access to Work reclaim, it'll only cost them around £350. It seems to have worked. \o/

I don't like using magnifying apps (beyond the fact that I zoom up the font size in Firefox so I can sit well away from the monitor and be lazy ). Most of the work I do needs real estate so for me the 2707 is a great compromise.

Are you public sector-related. I don't know if the A2W rules are different but I checked the government site and there's definitely a £300 minimum. Maybe I misread the amount to which the 80% rebate applies though.

In these circumstances, your employer would be expected to pay the first £300 of the costs of support, plus a further minimum 20 per cent of the costs up to a ceiling of £10,000. Jobcentre Plus would pay the remaining amount up to a maximum of 80 per cent and up to 100 per cent of agreed costs over £10,000.
Public sector may well be different - it often is.
