SD cards - Sandisk Extreme III SD or SDHC
Which is the fastest - Sandisk Extreme III SD or Extreme III SDHC?
The reason I'm asking is in the past I've bought other brand SDHC Class 6 cards in the hope they'd keep up with my camera and they simply don't (they're fine for normal stuff but no good for continuous shooting). Indeed the only cards I've found that can keep up are my old SD Extreme III cards. If the SDHC equivalents are sure to be as fast as the SD ones in my S3 IS, then I'm game as they work out slightly cheaper for the total capacity, but if not, I'd rather not waste any more money on cards that promise much and fall flat on delivery. |

Lists all the card types and explains the differences between the 2 Mark, might give you more info there to make your mind up on which to go for. SCM

Good info but doesn't really say much about the differences between SD and SDHC, and unfortunately for my camera it's just plain wrong (it says my camera only works up to 2GB but I've had 8GB cards in there).

I know keeping up to date with what actually works in your camera can be a pain From what i read re the SDHC they are more for modern cameras and might not work on earlier ranges of cameras. As you said though hard to know for sure from the site.
You could maybe ask the question on Talk Photography web page to see if anyone is using the SDHC in the camera or not. Might be more knowledgable people there to find out from. SCM

The problem isn't whether SDHC works (it does), it's whether the card will be fast enough to compete with my existing SD cards (none of the three SDHC cards I already have are fast enough, but none of them are Sandisk).

It works. \o/
Moral of this story - if you want a fast SD or SDHC card, avoid the chaff. |
