Check on ebay for Hong Kong sellers they give you prices there for the local market.

Is Canon's lens warranty international?

I'm pretty sure Nikon's isn't. That or their body one isn't, which means if it breaks, you have to send it back to China. I'd check up on that situation, cos to me, i'd rather pay extra on a UK one if it would save needing to deal with China if any issues arose.

You can get international warranties for Canon stuff that isn't an issue.

All Canon L-glass has an international warranty so that's not a problem.

Dunno what prices are like in China but for comparison purposes, you can get a brand new 70-200 F4L in the UK for about £350.

Hong Komg is by far the best place for camera gear at very reasonable prices. Check out HK cameras. They advertise on eBay alot and I have brought items from them.
They are good at posting the parcels user friendly, ie marking the parcels as gift !

I couldn't go to Hong Kong as it was a business trip. I didn't realise this, but China whacks on a huge import tax for anything not made there. They also hike up prices on non-Chinese brands, so the cameras and lenses were a lot more expensive than the UK.

I got my flash from Kerso and he was great, so I'll probably end up getting my lens off him too. I can't afford it yet though. It was just vain hope that I'd be able to pick one up for a bargainacious price. Ah well!!
