RAID controller chipsets, which one?
They're all about the same price, which should i choose for compatibility, or does it matter?
Silicon Image - SIL0680 Some random Maxtor which I'm not entirely sure what it uses... Promise - PDC 20269 Generic brand "Ultra" (i think). I'm assuming it's between the SIL and the PDC? The promise TX2 i can get from the UK (as opposed to HK) which I'd rather do really. In other news this is me still trying to the get this dammed server to behave. I don't quite know why yet but the server seems to have stopped playing around and totally hard locking, i think it may be thanks to a memory change, but I'm sure it did it under this memory last time.... Looks like WHS may need a reinstall though, it hasn't taken lightly to hard locking all the time Backup service refuses to run, the registry seems to have corrupted and won't let me install the power pack (which is pretty important if i don't want data loss...). Woe is me... |

Just as long as you avoid anything related to Highpoint (like that card you're using now), you'll probably see an improvement.

Cooooool Actually that s**** highpoint card is fine it seems, as long as its not using its own converters, or the dodgy power cable. To be fair on it. I just need to plug in some more PATA drives, and i'm sick to the back teeth of the "we'll work when we feel like it" highpoint SATA-PATA converters...
