I hate hippies
I am going to paraphrase here slightly but here's the basic situation.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/e...nt/7540450.stm There's a hippyfest on at the moment so they can discuss what they will do about plans for a new power station. That's fair enough. Just been watching the news and they were interviewing 3 people who are banned from attending as part of their bail conditions as they are not allowed within x distance of any Power Station after they hijacked a train carrying coal. They sat there for 5 minutes bleating on about how unfair it is they can't attend as all they want to do is talk with their friends. Well how about this? Don't hijack trains you stupid ****s! |

Reminds me of G8.
A protestor wanted to get by but the Gold commander ordered the road be closed. Protestor. ' I want to get past. I have a democratic right to protest. ' Me ' Sorry sir, the roads closed. ' ' Who says ? Under what legislation ? ' The Chief Constable of Tayside has ordered nobody get's passed. ' * cue 5 minute rant about facist cops and a tape recorder comes out * Tell me why ? We are not interested in you, we want the big bosses. Why can't I get passed ? ' ' I've told you already. ' ' I want your name and number. ' ' Why ? You said you weren't interested in me. The big boss is Mr Vine, the Chief Constable of Tayside. If you ars not satisfied, write to him. Either way you are not getting passed. ' ' I want your name and number and you have no numbers on. Why ? ' ' I have changed uniform twice today. It must have slipped my mind. ' * ****er tone * ' Name and number ' ' Smith, 199, Tyneside Police. ' ' I shall report you. ' ' It is your democratic right sir, go ahead. ' My name isn't Smith and Tyneside Police only exists in the TV drama 55' North.

That lot are due to take part in Direct Action tomorrow against 'agrofuels' companies.
They say "During this year's Climate Camp, situated near Kingsnorth power station, we will take decentralized, creative direct action against all aspects of the agrofuel industry. Join us in exposing and obstructing the agrofuel industry on Wednesday 6th August 2008" The company I work for heads up their list of biofuels companies and is closest to the camp in Kent. We say, "thanks for making us have to build a 20' fence around our plant to keep you hippies out". *sigh* Luckily it's not where I work, and I'm on holiday this week but I feel sorry for the employees there who are going to have the hassle tomorrow. I really hope it's not violent.

It will turn ugly Feek and you can bet it is a hardcore of protestors who turn it that way.
I was at Drax power station in 2006 and protestors were hell bent on shutting down a station that provides 8% of the National Grid without a thought of the consequences, disruption or cost involved. I remember two of them breaking in and chaining themselves to a coal conveyor belt so it couldn't feed coal to the furnace. Shame it was the one not in operation. I lolled.

In situations like that I would be quite happy for the Terrorism Act to be put into action and have em shipped off to Guantanamo (sp) Bay. Having said that when I get into power I suspect the UK will end up looking like V for Vendetta |
