Anyone know a good carpenter / somebody able to machine wood?

Right, been toying with this idea for ages and now the Kiss thing has come up it seems like the perfect time to do it.

I currently own an Ibanez Iceman

And want it to look like this

And now comes the part where I need a chippy/machinist

The guitar is currently in pieces for various reasons, and I need somebody to very accurately shave about 4mm off of the front face so I can stick the cracked mirror front on it.
But I have no idea where to start looking for somebody able to do that - so thought as there seems to be every other kind of person on this forum there might be somebody that could do this, or knows someone that can

so, does anyone have any input on this? (other than it'll look totally stupid

)

We have an old man local who is one of those old school wood machinists. I don't know whether he would take on the job or whether it would be to much trouble for you to send it up etc.
I can ask him if you like though.

Taking the laquer off is a simple process, but getting an even flattness over the whole body after taking off around 4mm with a sander would be killer

How even does it need to be? Is the guitar face not even?

it's even at the moment, yes.

And I suppose it doesn't need to be ultra even afterwards, but I still don't like the idea of taking 4mm off with a power sander as the wood is quite solid.

Why would you need to take 4mm off?

Taking 4mm off isn't easy, it would need to be machined - I don't think it could be done with a handtool

Can you use sandpaper on the laqeur?
