Just tried to strip it down but for some reason unable to completely take it apart. But from what I could see and feel, not much admittedly, the cable seems fine.
Was wierd, was browsing youtube when all of a sudden the cursor wouldn't move and the buttons for the trackpad didn't respond. Feel like throwing it against the wall |

It's and Acer Aspire 5630.
Just stripped it down again and can't see any loose cables. Unless I'm going blind or have no idea at what I'm looking at EDIT: Get ready to point and laugh... It turns out I had accidently turned off the track pad using the Fn key + F7 Going to go hang my head in shame and cry. Last edited by Wossi; 14-10-2008 at 22:49. |

Usually the connector is somewhere under the edge of the keyboard or palmrest (hint - it isn't the keyboard ribbon connector). Inspect the cable for damage as well as they're prone to getting pinched between the chassis and palmrest or keyboard.
I wonder where Leo got that particular idea from (I've got another one of those at home now and I stripped it to replace the hard disk so came across that particular connector). |
