Survivors
Did anyone catch this new six parter on the BBC last night. An all stellar cast of Casualty, Dr Who and Holby City faces of the past.
Basic premise is that 90% of the global population is killed off by a strain of the flu virus, society breaks down, Government disentegrates and lawlessness rules. You can see that it has taken some "Inspiration" from 28 days later and if your into graphic novels then you may see some simmilarities to The Walking Dead. Anywho what was your thoughts on it. I was watching it thinking that the whole survival horror genre had been done to death. Surely the writers and producers couldn't have been so cheap as to not make the story interesting. However right at the end there was a nice little twist just to make sure you tune in on Tuesday night. I hope the story goes somewhere different than where you expect it to. |

It's based on a book that was already dramatised for TV back in the 70s isn't it?
28 Days Later was itself a wholesale rip-off of any number of James Herbert books. Post-modernism in action I suppose. I agree with you though. Solid enough but nothing really that hasn't been done before - in the first episode at least.

The nice twist could turn out to be the same twist they had in Jeramiah. End of the world show, everyone over 25 or 30 killed off by a disease. Government responsible and working on things behind the scenes. I think the worst thing about Survivors was that all the people who survived lived along the same stretch of road.

I didn't realise it was a second series, that's why it didn't really explain who people were and general character knowledge.
Will have to get the first series.
