Is it safe to lose all the firewall stuff that you have to have with BitTorrent and others in order to try and stop the litigious lot from writing stroppy letters to your ISP?

I've ditched it all for now as I understand it's safe. Apparently 'they' just tell the newsgroup providers to take the content down adn and long as that's done in a reasonable amount of time then it goes no further.

They are more interested in the posters in newsgroups anyway. The ones that do post are behind various proxies and firewalls so there is bugger all chance of them being caught.

I prefer it to torrents now. It was fine when everyone was limiting to say 50-60% of your upload as then it won't kill your connection. Now they throttle down to about .5k upload which is crap!

I'm interested in trying newsgroups but it'll have to wait till I have more money and more HD space free.
The guides will be very helpful though so thanks for those.

Same on both counts. I'm setting up my old PC and connecting it to my TV as well as connecting it to my network, so that'll have almost 200GB free, would be nice to fill most of it with films etc then just play them on my TV directly

That's what your 360 is for dude Last night I downloaded Clarksons latest dvd, went downstairs and streamed it straight to the 360. It's how I watched Borat the other week

I'm planning on using it to stream once I'm back in Swansea. But I really need some more HD space to do it efficiently so that's why I'm waiting till then.
Hoping to retire my divx dvd player and pass it onto my parents and the living room to make things easier.

There's a slight bug in TVersity at the momemnt where the last 30 seconds or so of a video will stutter, sometimes quite badly. There's a fix in the forum somewhere but it's fixed in the new release which is imminent - which incidentally, adds PS3 support.

I tried doing that with a film I'd obtained, and the quality was pretty crap tbh. Not quite sure why, it's fine on my PC but really poor quality on the 360.

It was the same when I first installed it dude, just need to tweak the encoding settings off the default. Mine's optimised (I think at least) for the TV content I download (24 and Prison break mostly at the moment), so 640x352 resolution (the same resolution all the source files seem to be in), optimise for quality and tell the server it's a wired connection. After that, it looks no different to me hooking up the lappy and playing off that

If we'd have thought you could have seen it the other week.
