SEGA has confirmed recent reports that it is lining up a sequel to Xbox 360 and PC title Condemned.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot will be released in early 2008 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the publisher said at an event in the US yesterday, with Monolith resuming its role as developer on the psychological first-person action thriller.

Players once again take on the role of Ethan Thomas - now a broken man trying to track down his missing partner - as they go on the hunt for serial killers following a string of gruesome murders.

In addition to the hand-to-hand combat and forensic crime scene investigation of the first game, players can expect an expanded combat system with potential for offensive and defensive combination moves.

Monolith is also planning online multiplayer deathmatch and possibly some other modes.

SEGA Europe's Gary Knight said that the first game's "subtle details, gripping story and eerie tension" would all be intact in the sequel.

"Condemned 2: Bloodshot takes these three key elements to heightened new levels, providing a superb mature gaming experience that will constantly surprise its players and keep them gripped from start to finish," he added.
I really enjoyed the first game though I'm still yet to get past level 3. I really need to dedicate a weekend to it so I can go through it and finish it, as it is very good from what I've played.

You need to get to the derelict shopping mall level - there's manniquins everywhere and it gets bloody confusing! Looking forward to this.

I think I'm currently in the station at the moment and it's good. Crackdown and Gears kinda distracted me recently but I'm planning on going back to it.

Belmit have you got your live subscription sorted yet?

Saints Row 2 was also announced. Interesting comment I saw:

Saints Row is getting a sequel. THQ announced today that they’re publishing the sequel to the thug loving Saints Row.

Not much information was released other than a 2008 release and it will deliver a “all new cross platform experience”.

Saints Row was a cool game but it came out when there was no CRACKDOWN or Grand Theft Auto 4. Sure some gamers might clamor for a Saints Row sequel but after playing GTA 4 will gamers want to go back to the imposter?
With that in mind, it'll need to offer something new to be any real competition for GTA.

That's a negatory. It's on my list of things to do... still.

Aye from what I've seen and read about GTA4 it looks like they're really pushing the boat out so as you say it's going to need to be something special!

Indeed. I imagine they'll be keeping a very close eye on GTA4 and doing their best to one-up whatever GTA offers. Which is fine with me, competition between the two games can only be a good thing.
