As some of you know I have been looking for a LCD TV 32inch Sony.

I was just wondering what was the difference between:

KDL-32S3000U
and
KDL-32S3000E

Does anyone know what the difference is with the letter at the end?

I want to connect a PC up to it eventually so need a connection for that and also a DVD player and a PS2 aswell so need to be able to connect all of those things in too...I think Freeview is pretty standard now.

Dad would prefer me to get a Sony... but am open to other people's thoughts

Might be wrong but it looks like the U is for UK and the E is for Europe. Real world difference? At a guess mains cable (says comes with one), and possibly, but unlikely, the tuner spec as I think the UK uses a different version of PAL?

Nothing wrong with Sony at all...but you will pay a small premium for the name but then I guess you know that already

Actually the Sony panels are all that great.

My suggestion is go to Richersounds and buy a panel you like the look of and get their insurance, its about £30 for a 3 year warrenty and if you don't us it after 3 years they will refund it

I just bought a 32" Sharp Aquos from there for £400 and its ace the Sony panels I saw didn't have the vibrancy and smoothness of the Sharp

Don't know much about the Bravia panels (besides the ads), but I do know Sony didn't have a clue pre-Bravia.

Saw a 37in panel for just over £600 last night (special offer), but it's made by Daewoo, so god alone knows what that'll be like.

Personally of all the ones I have seen I prefer Panasonic and Samsung. I went for a Panasonic though myself *loves my Panasonic*

If I was looking for a 32inch LCD I think it would be either the TX-32LXD700 (around £740) or the TX-32LMD70 (around £500). If money were no object it would be the LXD700 but realistically it doesn't do enough extra to justify the extra so I would get the LMD70

For quality of picture I'd choose Panasonic - but the Sony's have become better over the years, I still feel they are over priced for what they are compared to better performing models. The Sony's do look nice though and the screens have become quite high achieving screens - just not my cup of tea.

I'm a big fan of the Bravia range though personally I couldn't justify the extra cost to get the Sony badge on the front. I've been very pleased with my Sharp and my friends Panosonic TVs (we swopped when he moved up North) and have been impressed with the Samsung panels as well.

IMO you're best off trying a few in store somewhere and choosing the one with the styling/UI/remote you like best as these will have much more of an impact than the screen quality will. Unless you're planning on hooking up a very good quality HD source (and I wouldn't count Sky or Virgin boxes as they compress the crap out of their signals) you're unlikely to notice the difference between the big brands.

i'm a big fan of the current range of pioneers. partly as already mentioned because i like the UI and remote as well as the picture quality being outstanding.
