Ah yes, see what you mean. Yes, that does happen to me as well but as I'm not fiddling with networks much that's not a huge issue. I get that more often trying to run chkdsk.

My Ten cents.
I used Vista at work for 3 months & sort out systems that are on Vista. Visually i love it, it's good looking & has a familiar feel to it. The thing i don't like is how it slows a system down compared to XP. Basically it needs more ram & most systems haven't got it. 1 meg is not enough for Vista imho. Get it on 2 meg & with a few tweaks it flys along. I think the biggest problem though is the catch up from other Company's & informed users. It is much easier to get info/tweaks/mods/Drivers etc for XP ran systems than it is Vista. This has nothing to do with Vista but is an issue. My Boss did lose a load of files for No apparent reason as well but this was probably down to Dodgey usage rather than Bugz. Give it another year, sp1 + sp2 for Vista & many more users & i will switch but for now i am staying on XP. Most reasons are down to just ease of use which has more to do with Me than it does with how Vista runs. I like how my system runs & how much i know about my XP on my system. The thought of switching OS & learning all the tweaks & cut downs does my head in S'pose I'll have to do it sooner or later though |

I'm not up for doing it now either. Right now most of my programs work, all my tweaks are up, my custom visual style is one I've had for some five years now and I'm not ready to change - and I don't think Vista will like it
I will change when it becomes absolutely necessary, or if I buy a new PC at some point down the line which already has it.

Where is that setting Davey? Does anyone also know how to change the default booting OS (dual boot).. My main rig still uses XP mainly but I've loaded Vista for Bioshock.. I'd like it to default it to XP on startup rather than vista.. ?

How does Vista fare, backward-compatibility wise?
