Credit Card Fraud
Has anyone here had the WP-Stagecoach scam done on them?
Link1 Link2 Yesterday I found that my account was hemmoraging money like a Haemophiliac's first period, and while I wouldn't have noticed usually due to my poor memory when it comes to money, I did this weekend as I didn't use my card over the weekend. Got to the ATM to get a full statment in the panic and found a WP-Stagecoach debit. A quick call to my bank and found that a number of debits for £22.50 were being processed at that time and that I had two cards on the go, they blocked both the cards and I've been given the number for the fraud dept. Anyway, long story short. Be careful with your card - I'm usually paranoid about people around me when using it and I've still been stung, in most shops I only use cash for transactions because anyone could use a dodgy chip and pin machine to pull your info. |

I’ve just got in contact with the fraud department and they’ve told me to wait until all the unauthorised transactions have come out of the account as they can’t do anything about it till then, they’re dealing with the ones that have already been debited though.
Now it’s just a waiting game. Thankfully the total money lost was just over £100, something I can absorb; If it was a few £1000 then I’d be devastated. However the £100 lost would still pay for the DS I’ve been wanting to buy. Apparently the fraudulent transactions were done over the internet. |

I've recently had about 400 quid syphoned off my account at Tesco petrol stations. So much for Chip & Pin eh (this is a debate I can drag up later ) I got all my money back, but it's a good thing I keep all my receipts and cross-check my spending every month. As has been said, be careful and keep and eye on your transactions.

I check my online banking every day so anything going missing will get spotted early enough...I hope.

I've not been hit by anything like this, but i use my debit card willy nilly all the time for small things and don't check it all the time, it's asking for trouble and bound to bite me in the ass some time soon... Probably should stop doing this.

Well no, the whole point of cards is that you use them. You shouldn't need to check it every day really. It doesn't hurt to, but you shouldn't need to.
I'm sure the percentage of people who get stung is very very small considering the number of transactions made on a daily basis.

My spending is a bit mad and I never check (I'm mainly rubbish at it and my statements scare me).
Lloyds have always been on the ball in the past though, I tend to find my card is blocked every few weeks. My flying means I tend to spend money in 2 different places with little time in between.

I wouldn't check every day - but I certainly cross check all my receipts against my statement. It's really rather foolish if you don't - but then again I'm not loaded so I'm a bit jew-like when it comes to checking on the pennies
When I used to travel extensively in my old job I only every used my credit card since it offered me a little extra protection than a debit card.

This is how I used my card; I used it mostly for cheap DVDs on Amazon marketplace, when you're buying 10 - 20 DVDs a week you don't notice the odd tenner going missing, I only noticed because whoever had my details got greedy and pulled out amounts I would noticed.
