Default Damn its taken them long enough.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7337212.stm

Finally they've shoved Pete Doherty behind bars for drugs related stuff. Shame its only 14 weeks.

If only they'd have thrown the book at him earlier instead of just letting him get away with it all the time, presenting the wonderful image to kids that doing drugs or other illegal stuff has no consequences if you're caught.

Prison is the Last place a Heroin addict should be sent.
Also blaming Pete for kids doing drugs is as Pathetic as blaming gaming for murders.

Good.

That will keep him out of the newspapers for 14 weeks too.

(fingers crossed)

No doubt he will be out in 2 for 'good behaviour'

He'll probably get more exposure through getting jailed & released than anything else BB. He'll also get more smax than he did before as well
He'll also meet a crap load of new dealers/wasters & contacts for future drug endeavours. It really is a lose lose situation for junkys.
If they were isolated from the other convicts & got clean it would at least accomplish something but it doesn't
Honestly people i have known people who would never even touch smax come out of a jail sentence addicted to the crap, One of my All time best mates did & he was dead set against drugs because of me before he went in.

I'm not blaming Pete for kids doing drugs, I'm blaming the justice system for publicly letting him get away with the illegal acts without consequences, due to his celebrity status. He walks out of one hearing for breaking terms of his parol relating to drugs taking, gets arrested and cautioned less than 30 minutes later in possession of drugs, again. Still nothing done. Admits publicly to driving under the influence of drugs, and still gets next to nothing by way of punishment. If it had been joe public doing half the stuff he's done and admitted to doing, they would have been behind bars faster than you could blink, but instead its taken this long. All the whilst that says clearly "You can do drugs, we'll arrest you, but hey, we let you go again with no hassles"

I don't think that really works as you'd have to posess them to 'do' them.

Anyway, I'm on the fence on this. It's about ****ing time they did something, but as Malc has correctly pointed out jail is often the worst place for a drug addict.

Best solution in my book - send the guy into obscurity, never to be heard about in a news report again. Never going to happen of course. :/

It's about time. I personally have no issue with people doing drugs in the privacy of their own home but unfortionately it is illegal and anyone else would have had the book thrown at them years ago. The message so far has been that if you do class A drugs the law will turn a blind eye and that makes a mockery of the law.
