Default Banks finally step towards the modern age

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7417303.stm

Instantaneous bank transfers, at long last.

In an age when all the banks are all electronically interconnected, an age when we can have phone conversations with people on the other side of the world, or do more complex stuff like play computer games against them in real time, banks have finally put in place a way to make a few simple 1s and 0s transfer instantly from one bank to another. Fancy that. Soon no more waiting 4+ working days to transfer your money

Scammers Rejoice, No more waiting for that moody payment & no way of them clawing it back either.

I hope I am wrong.

They haven't actually got there yet though, its baby steps, but baby steps in the right dirrection. I sent my flat mate money the other day, and we wondered why it went instantly, because that has NEVER happened. Then i saw the news today and realised So HSBC have had it set up working for a good week or two at least it seems!

It's about time. Being as I work on these systems and I know everything happens instantly it's easy to see the delay is just there to make money from.

30 million a year in interest from money in the process of being transferred I read.

You have to love your friendly high street bank, don't you?

I tried to "go green" with my graduate account from HSBC for paperless statements and a £5 donation to my account for doing so. Last week I got a PAPER LETTER from them saying "your account does not support the go green option- sorry".
WHAT?! How can a bank account not support the option to "go green"? I can manually cancel paper statements however but this is beside the point. <grumble>
