Default The Robert the Bruce Festival 15/6/08

I managed to keep one half of my proposed plans for this weekend and made it along to the event on Sunday. Would have liked to have made the Vintage Car Rally but i will look out for others.

I am currently doing the horrible job of working my way through the shots from the day, all 716 and 9.5gb worth so it might take a little while to post some more up but to begin with here is the first one i have finished.

The English Knight Sir William one of the jousters in the tournament that ran twice during the day, they are the only full contact team that people are ever likely to see. No part of the body was off limits with the head being allowed to be targetted, the man behind the William mask spent part of the night in hospital due to injuries the day before so they werent holding back to give everyone a great display.

Very nice pic!

Only comments I'd make is that it would be nice for a bit more profile (more space on the left and right) to see what he is "Walking in to". Also maybe a touch more aperture so he snaps out from the background a touch more.

I am not an expert on CS so anything lacking in snappiness is all down to me I seriously need to learn or find a course.

I decided on this crop as i wanted this particular look with him hardly moving at this point and was showing off for the crowd at the side. I have more horse shots where they are in action with space for them to move into for a better shot.

Aperture is done from the camera. If you can put yours in Av mode, try decreasing the number in the aperature field.

Sorry was having a dumb moment yesterday and that shot was taking at the lowest AV value i could on my lens. Mind was a bit fuzzy yesterday and went off on an odd tangent, as i only shoot AV these days so i knew what you mean just my mind was going gaga.

Only way i could have gotten lower was to use my nifty fifty lens but i forgot to take it on the day
