Archos 605 WiFi 20gb - anyone used one?
Anyone used one
Got one reserved for £116 at the local Currys, however I don't have to pick it up. I have noticed that you need to buy masses of plugins to get it working properly *sigh* which pushes the price up, also the hard drive is smaller than the 32gb of flash memory my Cowon D2 has in it - but that an be changed at a later date. Worst of all though, doesn't support flac. That'll give my servers real-time mp3 streaming a bit of a workout - converting on the fly. Battery life seems ok, screen looks great. It's not going to be used that much, possibly in the gym once I'm able to go again and generally around the flat streaming video/audio - once I've bought the pluging to enable AC3 and the web plugin....

Not used that particular nodel but have used others. That price is pretty good even if you do have to add plugins. Screen is very good. Not used wi-fi on them but a certain member here will be pleased to know the browser plugin is Opera.
If I were ever to go to a gym then I would have an aversuin to using an HDD-based player but I may just be paranoid. |

Good god, for what I wanted to use it for it gets bloody expensive.
£116 for the unit itself Add another £70 for the plugins Add another £50 for the DVR docking station Doesn't even handle common lossless files after all that. I didn't get it in the end. Getting a mini laptop and a MCE remote instead I think.
