Wow, hell of a sweeping generalisation there. I assume that you have never in your life broken the law? Not even a bit?

"If kids would learn to cross roads properly we wouldn't have to drive at snails pace near schools."

If that isn't basically saying 'I can't speed because of kids', I don't know what is.

I think people are reading "not at snails pace" as "blatting the carp out of it and speeding like a loony"

I agree with you Vix - its one thing to drive sensibly but its another when ignorant kids just wander out into and in many cases walk along in the middle of the road

Thanks Wossi, and Sam you put it better than I can at the moment.

Removed all my posts as they were being misread by the 'think of the children' brigade. Didn't think we had them on here but nvm.

Even if he had it doesnt make his point any less valid.

It's common sense that it's a far more sensible policy to get adults who totally understand the consequences of their actions to act in a way so as to ensure safety, rather than kids.

Is it really such a hardship to drive at 30, or maybe 20 for a short period past a school?

(and it's nothing to do with 'think of the children', it's the stupidity of the notion that you shouldn't have to drive slowly past schools)

Clearly arriving at ones destination 3 seconds earlier than you would have otherwise is justification for risking the life of a kid.

Of course kids should look where they're going etc etc, but that doesnt mean its fair game to drive like a **** past a school.

Perhaps you'd like to explain it better then?

Complaining at having to slow to 30/20 past a school can't be interpreted many ways other than you wanting to drive past schools at 40 or so really can it?

Do you really think advocating driving past schools at those kinds of speeds is logical, on the basis kids 'should know how to cross the road'?

I was taught to cross the road properly, I was taught cars can kill and to respect that, I was taught my little feet stayed on the pavement as much as possible.
Cars still went past at 30 or 40 mph and guess what? Because I was taught those things, I'm not a smear on the floor.

And no one has said "drive like a ****" - the whole point is about driving sensibly for the area - during school holidays should all roads be 20mph? There are kids every where then.

I can't remember where I read it but more accidents apparently happen at lower speeds because drivers get bored, they look around, check out the shop windows, eye up the people at the bus-stop, etc
