As he is laying out the track he slowly gains on the penguins train and, as he pulls alongside him, he scowls at the penguin.

When you can convey so much expression from a character that doesn't even have a mouth, you know you're good.
Even wall-e made noises to add an extra dimension.....Gromit only has eyebrows and ears to do it
