My 700 does that too. I find it's a common trait with any device that uses that connector style - my home phones have the same problem.

Occasional gentle use of a rubber (eraser) doesn't seem to do any harm.

Yeah i've seen about 5 mx700 (friends brothers mine, cousins etc...) all do exactly the same thing. I find to look after them you use them until theyre run down and then charge them, so they spend as little time in the charger as possible... You shouldnt have to do this though...

I have a 700, had it 5 years, its starting to go, it wont highlight text but its been a bargain, dropped it about 30 times.

Need a new MX 700
