Which Whisky?

Unfortunately I missed all the really good whisky offers at Sainsburys just after Christmas. There are 3 on offer at the moment and I'm stuck which one to choose...

Laphroaig 10 year single malt at £20:

Dalwhinnie 15 year single malt at £22.99:

Cardhu 12 year single malt at £24.99:

I'm not fussy between honey/peat/smoke but the Laphroaig keeps selling out so I'm guessing it's a good deal?

There is pretty much always a bottle of Laphroaig of some description is this house

I'm really partial to Balvenie (thanks to Stan).
I've found a store out here that sells them, but at the price it is it'll be more a treat than not. Introduced lana's bro-in-law to the idea of whisky drinking so he picked up a bottle of Glenlivet. He liked it and phoned me to let me know it was "the bomb", but still felt it could be a bit harsh on the pallet. I took my bottle of Balvenie 12 year old double wood over with me to her parents yesterday so that he could sample some of it. The look on his face was awesome, he's a big fan of that one. The Glenlivet he was drinking whilst playing x-box of an evening, or similar, his description of Balvenie is it's one he could drink whilst chilling out in a chair just enjoying the drink alone.

I'd buy the Jura that's in the middle of the last two myself

Yup, I'm suspicious about the prices of these. Sainsburys "offers" are quite often temporarily inflated prices so they look like they are an offer. The wine department is awful for this.

Out of those three I'd go for the Dalwhinnie. Laphroaig is very much an acquired taste - it's extremely peaty.

That would be my advice too. Laphroaig is one of my favourite tipples but, as Paul says, it's very much an acquired taste and not for everyone. Dalwhinnie is a nice mix of gentle peat and a hint of spiciness iirc. I wouldn't say it was the most exciting whisky on the go - I would describe it as inoffensive

At £23, I'd have a bottle

Dalwhinnies good. If you can though, try and get a bottle of the Balvennie Doublewood. Lovely jubbly!

I also highly recommend trying the only Welsh single malt, Penderyn. Rather nice for a "foreign" whisky!
