I only got round to watching the first one yesterday and totally agree - in some of the fight scenes you just couldn't tell who was who and what was actually going on.
Plus I've seen the guy who played the lead soldier bloke in something else and he annoyed the hell out of me in that so I couldn't warm to him.
Oh and why wasn't Jazz a Martini 911?
And why wasn't Bumblebee a Beetle?
Prime had too much bling and didn't die
No Soundwave
Not enough made of Starscream although his voice was spot on

Hmm, maybe I didn't really like it that much after all

I know what you mean Lopez. Almost all other comic book adaptations were made fairly true to the originals, yet Transformers has blatently sold itself to the highest bidder. There's one character that got written into the script right at the last moment, since an American car company decided they wanted to use the film to promote a newly released model.

Yes, on one hand that money can be used for a level of special effects that is nothing short of amazing.

But for a fan who liked the original G1 series I too wouldn't mind seeing more of the characters being kept as they were. I honestly don't mind e.g. Ratchet changing from an ambulance to a search and rescue vehicle, but Bumblebee being a totally different car? Same with Jazz, Iron Hide etc.

And don't even get me started on how they cocked up some of their names. And Shia Le Bouf. My word - how does that man keep finding work?

I found it largely forgettable.

Pretty much yeah, something about a cube and the two types of transformers both wanting it for good or evil. The end was really poor IMO, the military part, reverse engineering the cube and megatron to spawn mankinds modern technology. Along with the battle. It was plucked straight from Independance Day?

Dropping them into an ocean trench to hide the evidence so "nobody would ever know" seemed ludicrous. Wasn't there just a huge fight in the middle of the city? Buildings trashed? Army rolling in jets and tanks? Everybody in the city blind are they?

Completely rushed and no need for a sequel IMHO.

I'll leave now, the Transformer fans are circling.

Yes there are flaws, but it is one with giant transforming robots so I think people shouldn't really try and look too hard at it. It was a visual feast based on the toys that I used to play with as a kid, and that's how I'm going to treat the second one.

I honestly didn't mind the things you described and other factual errors e.g. them being dropped into a place that wasn't the deepest point of the oceans (Lorentian Abyss v Mariana's Trench?).

I actually enjoyed it. I don't care if it wasn't as it was "supposed" to be, as I just found it a good bit of brainless fun, cool cgi and the goodies won, foxy girl, action, and transformers. What more could you want?!

Another slightly longer trailer. The 1080p version looks sweet!
