Could we hell get ours (we took two, iPods AND 2 different brands of FM transmitters) to work in europe, especially in France.
Yep, I used my iTrip loads of times in France, Belgium, Holland, Sweden, Germany, Spain & Italy. FM is the same all over Europe so there's no reason why it shouldn't work.

We took one (which we couldn't get to work so assumed it was faulty) and bought another (which we still couldn't get to work). Later that day we spoke to some other people who'd had similar problems and they were the ones who'd commented that apparently it was down to the lack of clear seperation between radio station frequencies.

I should add that neither of these were the authentic Apple product though.

I never had a problem using either of mine when abroad. At first I had an iTrip which I left behind in a hire car so I replaced it with a Belkin something-or-other and that also worked fine everywhere. This was in a variety of hire cars and I never had a problem.

Incidentally the iTrip isn't an Apple product. It's made by a company called Griffin.

Is there an official product then?
Seems strange, Apple missing a trick.

Last time I looked there wasn't, but then I've not looked since about 2004.

iTrip style products were illegal in the UK until recently IIRC so this might explain why Apple haven't launched their own.

But they were legal elsewhere so it is a bit surprising that Apple didn't make one. It was less than trivial to get one when they were illegal here anywhere.

Yeah somehow I didn't expect to hear that the FM police had launched a dawn raid.

In case anyone was wondering, the iTrip works great. Unfortunately I dropped my iPod and now the hard drive is screwed. Less than a week after I fixed the ruddy headphone socket!!!!
