Or you could just keep a look out for Pioneer Kuros at 'discontinued' prices.

OK, well serious head on now regarding this TV thing.
NEED to get a new TV anyway and for the most it'll be used for gaming and watching films from the laptop, all via HDMI. 99% of LCD's that I've seen have 3 HDMI ports which is perfect (1 for 360, 1 for PS3, 1 for Laptop). I can't have a TV 'too' big, 37" is really hitting my limit because my room is so small so it's not as if I'm gonna need a huge TV because I'm sat several metres away. I'd reckon at the most I'll be 6 foot away from the screen when laid on the sofa watching it. The 720/1080 can of worms I appreciate is always open to debate, however, what I believe to be factual is that while 99% of people are saying play the 360/PS3 on the 720 setting if the screen does NOT do 1080p (don't use 1080i) but there's is an advantage to going 1080p if the TV supports this. Is this correct? Likewise for the films from my laptop and perhaps day-to-day work or surfing, I'd get a far higher vertical resolution if I go the 1080p route. Whether this is true or not, I've been told the PC input will NOT allow a resolution to be upscaled to 1080i. Make and brand, I'm not into that. Obviously I want reliability, don't want the damn thing to go kapput in a years time, but would like something that has a nice bright screen and shows jet blacks and brilliant whites. Dolby pro bollocks or SBS with doofer whatsits and all that malarky really don't interest me. I don't shout out gaming or films, 9 times outta 10 I'll have headphones on so as long as there's a headphone out, I'll be happy. Don't understand why a TV would need USB, PCMCIA slots. Only thing I can grasp in my tiny little none-tv-snob mind is the higher the contrast ratio then the more brighter the screen will be (or vibrant, is that a good word to use) and the refresh rate wants to be semi decent so as to not have ghosting. |

Some TVs (a lot of the higher end Samsungs, Pioneers et al.) will let you plug cameras/memory cards directly into the TV to view pictures etc. If you're plugging in a laptop anyway then that feature is probably irrelevant.

Don't know how important it is to you Jason, but Lost Planet 2 has just been confirmed as another Xbox360 only exclusive.

You'll be wanting plasma then, cos LCD can't do 'jet black'.
