Default It's one of those, "Does anybody else get..." threads

I've started waking up to the radio instead of a buzzer recently, and, it's weird. Simply because as the songs first come on, and I'm waking up, the songs sound *so* much better. Everything about the song playing seems clearer, sharper, better.

Probably something to do with the waking mind, flood of hormones, perhaps your audible perception is momentarily enhanced. Whatever the reason, it's ace. It gets me out of bed, and not only out of bed, but if it's a good song, it gets me out of bed strutting to the music.

I can hear the song some hours later and it's typically "bland" again in comparison.

Anybody else get the same?

Completely the opposite I kind of liked Lily Allen's new song, but having woken up twice to it on the radio I've completely been turned against it now I hate getting up!

Can't say I do, though whatever song wakes me up is often the one I have in my head for the rest of the day.

Last night I set the alarm on my phone and put it across the room so I'd have to get up to turn it off. I woke an hour after it was meant to go off with the phone under my pillow. Absolutely no memory of retrieving it.

Sort of.
I can still remember waking up one Saturday morning to Motorcycle Emptiness by the Manic Street Preachers and it still gives me a buzz when I hear it.

These days, the alarm on my phone is Insomnia by Faithless, perfect imo for getting me up in the morning

Normally being woken up by a song I love makes me turn against it and absolutely hate the guts out of it and who ever sings it.

I bought a semi decent radio alarm clock to replace my cheap one a few months ago. The cheap one was inaudible at any volume level required to stand a chance at waking me up in the morning. The current one is excellent in comparison and I can actually distinguish between it playing music and not just a loud noise as before.

In addition to the radio alarm I have my TV set to come on at the same time.

Last but not least I have my mobile as the third and final alarm playing Utah Saints - Something Good.

Unfortunately I am perfectly capable of either completely sleeping through all three and/or getting up in a day dream and turning them all onto snooze or turning them off altogether.

It's probably the same effect every morning when people are woken up by BBC Breakfast. It's all starts like wow, what's on the news! but quickly degenerates to the irritating 15 minute BBC loop of speculation and sensationalisation. Every day I wake up keen to hear the news and leave the flat keen to never have to hear it again.
